Changes in multiparametric MRI in patients withoverweight and osteoarthritis after significant weight loss
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in OA provides a unique visualization of the anatomical structures inthe joints and pathoanatomical changes involved in OA, furthermore dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI
allows an evaluation of the perfusion, vascularity, and capillary permeability in the tissue, making it anideal tool to study inflammatory changes in the soft tissue and bone-marrow seen in OA.
The aim of this PhD was to evaluate the effect of weight loss on structural and inflammatory pathologiesin knee OA and to assess the association between these findings and knee pain.
